Feast of Saint Lawrence, deacon and martyr. Today is the feast day of Saint Lawrence, who infamously called "Turn me over, I'm done on this side" when being martyred by being burned. Although this is an extreme example of course, we are also asked to cheerfully give what we can, even if it is difficult. (Preached on Tuesday, August 10, 2010, 12:15pm, St. Malachy's Church, 49th and Broadway, Times Square, New York City)
